Carson Hocevar throws middle finger to Layne Riggs while racing to the win at Kansas

Late race contact! An attempted last-lap pass for the lead! Carson Hocevar held off Layne Riggs and let him know about it. After the two NASCAR drivers made contact on the final lap, Hocevar sped away to the win and gave Riggs a not-so-friendly hand gesture while he did it.
Basically, coming out of Turns 3 and 4, Carson Hocevar stuck his left middle finger out of the window and let it fly. Quite a way to wrap up a highlight, physical finish in the Truck Series.
Riggs gave Hocevar a run for his money. Hocevar credited Riggs and the speed of his truck for challenging him late. But in the heat of the race, we know how the Spire Motorsports driver really felt.
Who can blame him? He hit the wall along with Riggs on the last lap and still kept his foot in the gas to take the win. Let him throw out a middle finger, come on. You can see it happen as the two drivers speed around the final corner after the contact.
“Yeah, last lap, I got to him. Got into him a little bit. We both hit the wall. He won the race and you know, I think he was mad at me,” Riggs said after the race. “I think he flipped me off all the way down the frontstretch coming to the checkered, but how can you be mad when you win the race, right?”

While Carson Hocevar didn’t mention the middle finger, he did comment on Layne Riggs after the finish. He put up a great fight against a highly touted, young Cup Series driver.
“I just thought I’d make it entertaining. Were y’all entertained?” Hocevar asked the cheering crowd. “No, that 34 truck was super, super good. Yeah, this truck was really, really good on the short runs, and I didn’t think he would get to us for how far back he was, but he was super good. It’s been a while since I’ve been in a finish like that where it’s all out there. So, credit to him, you know, I know he’s going for everything there.”
If you’re a fan of NASCAR, I’m not sure how you can hate that finish. Layne Riggs continues to impress when he races against these Cup Series drivers. His dad, Scott, raced in the Cup Series, and I think that Layne may find his way to racing on Sundays before it is all said and done.
